Product description
Vigantol 20,000 IU is a drug in the form of oral drops containing the active substance vitamin D (cholecalciferol), which is important in the process of bone formation. Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) can be supplied to the body with food or produced in the skin upon exposure to UV radiation. Vitamin D deficiency is associated with disorders of bone calcification (rickets) or loss of calcium from the bones (osteomalacia). Vigantol 20,000 IU can be used to prevent rickets, osteomalacia and vitamin deficiency, and to support the treatment of osteoporosis. The medicinal product is suitable for newborns (including premature babies), children, adolescents, adults and the elderly.Bottle of Vigantol 20000 IU is closed with a screw cap that contains a dropper for easy measuring of the recommended dose.
Indications
Vigantol is used in:
- preventing rickets and osteomalacia in children and adults,
- preventing rickets in premature babies,
- preventing diseases when there is a risk of vitamin D deficiency in children and adults,
- prevention of vitamin D deficiency in children and adults,
- adjunctive therapy to osteoporosis in adults.
Composition
1 ml of solution contains:
- active ingredient: cholecalciferol 500 µg,
- other ingredients: triglycerides of medium chain saturated fatty acids.
Action
Vitamin D3 has a multidirectional effect, incl. regulates the calcium-phosphate balance, increases the absorption of calcium and phosphate in the intestines, affects the bone mineralization process and is essential for the proper functioning of muscles and the immune system. Deficiencies in vitamin D3 and may lead to rickets, bone mineralization disorders, osteoporosis and disorders of the immune system.
Dosage
- Premature babies: 2 drops a day of Vigantol solution (1000 IU of vitamin D3). After 40 weeks of age of the corrected age, the prophylaxis dose should be reduced. The dosage must be established by the attending physician.
- Newborns and infants (up to 12 months): 1 drop of Vigantol solution daily (equivalent to 500 IU of vitamin D).
- In premature babies, newborns and infants, the drug should be used under the supervision of a doctor.
- Children, adolescents, adults and the elderly: 1 drop of Vigantol solution daily (equivalent to 500 IU of vitamin D).
- Adjunctive treatment in osteoporosis in adults: 2 drops a day of Vigantol solution (equivalent to 1000 IU of vitamin D).
- Do not use the medicinal product for a long time or in higher doses without medical supervision.
